Tipping on Tour

Tipping While Traveling: A Guide for Our Guests

Tipping is a thoughtful way to recognize exceptional service on your journey. While it may not be customary in your home country, tipping is an established practice in the tourism industry and is deeply valued by those who take care of you during your travels.

To help you navigate tipping customs, we’ve prepared a brief guide.

Tour Host and Driver

It is customary to provide gratuities for your tour director and driver at the conclusion of your coach tour.

While you can tip individually, it’s common practice for the group to collect contributions in an envelope and present it together at the end of the trip. Your trip documents might offer suggested tipping amounts, but the final decision depends on your satisfaction with the service. As a general recommendation, tipping the tour director €5–10 per person per day and the driver €3–5 per person per day is considered appropriate.

Local Guides

If gratuities for your local guides are not included, it is customary to tip them at the end of their service. Your tour host may discuss tipping arrangements with the group and collect contributions in a shared envelope. If this is not organized by your leader, you can tip individually or ask for guidance on what is appropriate. Local guides typically expect €2–5 per day, depending on the tour’s duration and other factors.
